Since September 2020, the European Commission has been enhancing its ability to monitor and anticipate migration movements through the Migration Preparedness and Crisis Blueprint. This mechanism ensures effective information sharing and coordination between EU institutions, Member States, and Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) agencies—including the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA)—to provide a timely and coordinated response in crisis situations.
The 2024 adoption of the Pact on Asylum and Migration has further reinforced the role of the Blueprint Network. As part of this strengthened framework, the network now delivers weekly reports on migration trends, paying particular attention to fundamental rights implications.
To support this initiative, Milieu, as the Hungarian FRANET contractor, is responsible for collecting and analysing key data in accordance with the Commission’s guidelines. This effort helps enhance EU migration governance by ensuring a well-informed and coordinated approach to migration monitoring and crisis preparedness.
Stay tuned for further updates on how this initiative strengthens EU migration governance.
