In 2024, we were proud to be awarded the 3-star Ecodynamic Enterprise Label—the highest recognition for environmental performance under this Brussels-based certification scheme. This official label rewards organisations that take concrete and ambitious steps to reduce their environmental impact. Our 3-star achievement reflects years of dedication to sustainable operations, staff engagement, and responsible resource management.
Energy efficiency and low-impact technology
Reducing our energy consumption is a key part of our sustainable office management strategy. We promote responsible energy use across our operations and have transitioned from desktop computers to energy-efficient laptops, which consume up to 80% less electricity. Staff are also encouraged to adopt energy-saving behaviours as part of our culture.
Promoting sustainable transport
Milieu encourages staff to commute sustainably—on foot, by bicycle, or via public transport to our centrally located office in Brussels. We aim to reduce work-related travel by choosing virtual meetings where possible. Where work-related travel is necessary, we prioritise train over car or air travel; where flying is necessary, we fully offset carbon emissions.
Waste reduction and eco-friendly procurement
Our waste strategy focuses on reducing consumption, improving recycling practices, and adopting green procurement. We choose environmentally responsible products, including recycled paper and biodegradable cleaning supplies, and we use a drinking fountain instead of disposable plastic dispensers.
A sustainable and healthy office environment
Milieu’s kitchen is stocked with reusable items, fair-trade and organic tea and coffee, and locally sourced organic products. Only biodegradable, non-toxic cleaning products are used. Throughout our office, indoor plants enhance air quality, reduce stress, and promote wellbeing—contributing to a productive and healthy work environment.
