Andrea Pazos

Analyst

Andrea Pazos joined Milieu in 2024 and has since gained experience in EU environmental and maritime policy, with a focus on policy analysis and coherence between environmental and sectoral policies. Her background in marine science and management underpins her work and interest in the science-policy interface. At Milieu, her work focuses on marine and water policy, particularly the Marine Strategy Framework Directive and the Maritime Spatial Planning Directive. She has also participated in projects on coastal community resilience, the EU Forest Strategy, and the implementation of the Floods Directive. Andrea contributes to studies for the European Commission on the implementation and evaluation of EU environmental policy frameworks, carrying out qualitative and quantitative analyses, comparative assessments of national approaches, stakeholder consultations, methodological development, and multidisciplinary research across multiple policy areas. Her role further includes project management support and coordinating expert inputs. Before joining Milieu, Andrea worked as a marine conservation researcher (Peru), focusing on artisanal fisheries and bycatch reduction, and completed a traineeship at the Institut de Ciències del Mar (Barcelona) on fisheries’ monitoring. Andrea holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology from Universidad Científica del Sur (Peru) and a Master’s degree in Marine and Lacustrine Science and Management from a joint programme of Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Ghent University, and University of Antwerp (Belgium). She speaks Spanish (native) and English (fluent).
