Isa Vroom

Isa Vroom has been working with Milieu since March 2022, contributing to EU environmental policy research with a particular focus on marine and water governance. Her expertise lies in marine and water policy implementation and analysis, and data-driven research. She supports the implementation of key EU legislative frameworks, particularly those relating to the marine domain. Her work includes the management of teams and budgets, policy analysis, coordination support and data management. She also contributes to studies assessing the implementation of EU environmental legislation by Member States, particularly in the cases of the Netherlands and Belgium. Isa holds a BSc and MSc in Biology from Wageningen University, The Netherlands, specialising in systems’ ecology and nature conservation. Her academic work focused on marine ecological resources, conservation policy, and Geo-Information Sciences. She wrote her Master’s thesis on Marine Protected Areas in the Greater North Sea and completed an internship with a Brussels-based nature conservation NGO, where she developed practical tools for Marine Protected Area managers. Her broader experience includes supporting projects and proposals in the fields of biodiversity, climate action and environmental policy. Isa is fluent in Dutch and English and is an independent user of French and German.
