Raffaella D’Antonio

Associate Senior Advisor

Raffaella D’Antonio is an Italian lawyer working as an Associate to Milieu since 2021. She specialises in human rights and environmental law, with expertise in EU and international legal frameworks and their implementation at national level. Her work focuses on legal research, comparative legal analysis, assessment of legislative transposition and compliance, and stakeholder engagement, particularly in relation to environmental protection, participatory rights, access to justice, consumer law, fundamental rights and business and human rights. With Milieu, Raffaella has delivered impactful studies and legal analysis for EU institutions and agencies, including DG ENV, DG JUST, DG HOME, CoR and FRA. She holds a five-year Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Naples Federico II (Italy), an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from Newcastle University (United Kingdom), and a PhD from Newcastle University on human rights and environmental protection. Before joining Milieu, Raffaella taught EU law and human rights’ law at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Italy and the UK. Her previous work also includes research activities in environmental law at the University of Trento (Italy) and independent consultancy for EU institutions. Her previous experience also includes work on a third-party intervention before the European Court of Human Rights concerning environmental pollution and human rights violations, and traineeship experience at the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the ECtHR.
