Matthew Geraci
Senior Advisor
Matthew joined Milieu in 2022 and brings expertise in EU social and employment policy, and environmental and climate policy. His past work spans a range of policy areas, including labour mobility, social protection and inclusion, youth employment, and forest policy, supporting projects for clients such as DG EMPL, DG ENV, and the European Parliament. At Milieu, Matthew leads analytical studies for EU institutional clients, develops bespoke methodological approaches, manages teams, carries out stakeholder consultations and supports the implementation of project deliverables. His quantitative expertise includes econometric analysis using Stata, working with EU-level datasets such as the EU Labour Force Survey and EU-SILC to produce evidence-based assessments of trends in poverty, inequality, and social inclusion. He also designs and implements stakeholder consultation activities, including surveys, interviews, and high-level workshops with participants from public authorities, industry, NGOs, and academia across the EU. Prior to joining Milieu, Matthew served as Senior Advisor for Policy to Canada’s Federal Minister of Environment and Climate Change, where he advanced national freshwater policy objectives and managed cross-cutting environmental policy files. Matthew holds a Double Degree MSc in Public Policy and Human Development with a specialisation in Social Protection Policy from Maastricht University and United Nations University (UNU-MERIT), and a BA in Politics and Governance from Toronto Metropolitan University. He works in his native language of English.
